“I haven’t been this inspired in years.”

The Weeknd may have dropped his My Dear Melancholy, EP earlier this year, but fans have been holding out for a new, full-length album from the Toronto artist since the release of Starboy in 2016. Now, it seems the wait is almost over. During his concert in Toronto on Tuesday night, The Weeknd revealed that he has a new album in the works, and that it’s on its way soon.

“I want to let you guys know, being in Toronto these past two days, I haven’t been this inspired in years,” he said. “I want you guys to be the first to know that I’m working on my new album right now. Chapter Six coming soon.”

It’s possible that “Chapter Six” is a tentative title, although it seems more likely that he’s just referencing the project’s place in his catalog. The Weeknd has put out five commercial releases in his career so far: 2012’s Trilogy (a combination of previous mixtapes), 2013’s Kiss Land, 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness, 2016’s Starboy, and 2018’s My Dear Melancholy,.

He further hinted at this idea with a followup tweet:

My Dear Melancholy, produced the Platinum-certified single “Call Out My Name,” which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April. He scored another 2018 hit with the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Pray For Me,” which hit No. 7 and also went Platinum after appearing on the Black Panther soundtrack.
