5ive

AKA: Five

About 5ive

Five, often stylised as 5ive, are an English boy band who were hugely popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Formed by the same team behind the Spice Girls, 5ive comprised Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Jason “J” Brown and Richard “Abs” Breen (now Abz Love).

After their debut single “Slam Dunk (Da Funk)” debuted at number 10 in the UK, 5ive followed this up by cracking the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with “When the Lights Go Out”.

In September 2001, after eleven consecutive UK top 10 hits and shipping 20 million records worldwide, Sean Conlon left 5ive and the band split up not long afterwards.

An attempt at a reunion in 2006 without Conlon was short-lived and abandoned after less than eight months, but a second comeback (as part of The Big Reunion for ITV2) occurred in 2012 with Conlon on board. This time, however, Brown chose not to take part as he elected to live a private life.

Love also departed 5ive in 2014, without telling the rest of the band first. Neville, Conlon and Robinson continue to perform as a trio.
